What can I do online with Te Ataarangi?

Te Kura Raunui is a government-funded, online Ataarangi reo Māori programme specifically designed for school teachers, principals, and support staff. We encourage teachers and kaimahi from the same school to sign up and learn together. It's the best way to nurture the reo in your kura, support each other and have fun while learning.

Why Ataarangi? Build fluency and confidence to take the reo straight into the classroom.

Format? 10-week modules (2 hours p/week) held online during the school term.

Modules? There are four modules each with a different level of reo, starting at beginners.

Support? You will be in a small breakout room with your own Ataarangi kaiako, and have access to class recordings and resources.

Cost? Te Kura Raunui is government-funded. It is free for eligible staff.

Ara Whakangungu is for people who want to tautoko our Ataarangi ONLINE learners to kōrero Māori and become a kaiako.
Ara Whakangungu is in two parts:
Part A = a 10-week ONLINE programme for 2 hours a week where you will be trained by pou of Te Ataarangi, including Dr Ruakere Hond.

Part B = when you complete Ara Whakangungu, you will be invited to the role of Taitoko. This is a 20-week internship to help build your confidence and skills with Ataarangi ONLINE.

Kāhui Reo is a deep dive into language planning with frameworks developed by Dr. Ruakere Hond to normalise reo Māori speaking spaces.

Classes during the day (12-2pm) and at night (7 -9pm) NZ time
